Thousands of our brethren, not to mention our very own fathers and mothers, aunts, uncles and cousins were tragically murdered by the Nazis.
Many thousands more died in death marches towards the end – or immediately after – the war. Their bodies lie scattered among the blood-soaked soil of many European countries including Austria.
Many of these graves are on the side of the roads near the towns they passed. Some are located in the local city cemetery, and some are in the local Jewish cemetery.
It is our mission that 80 years after their death, these victims of the death marches who were not afforded any dignity in death, should finally get the dignity they deserve.
In July 2022 a trip was undertaken by Zichron Kedoshim to follow the footsteps of the Mauthausen-Gunskirchen death march. Many mass graves were visited along the way.
